How to make an Easter Cupcake Wreath!

Start with pre-made cupcakes! Be sure to let them fully cool before you begin decorating...

Step 1: Mix up and whiten your buttercream

Mix up a batch of buttercream and add a few drops of the Ingenious Edibles Icing and Frosting Whitener to give it a brighter white pop.

Step 2: Attach to the board and pipe

Add a dot of buttercream to the bottom of each cupcake case to help it stick to the cake board. Arrange them in a circle (cases touching) to get the wreath shape, and pipe a swirl onto each cupcake.

Step 3: Spread out your buttercream

Using your spatula, gently smooth out the buttercream on each cupcake, bringing it across the edge of the case onto the next cupcake. Do this all the way around until you have a seamless layer of buttercream disguising the individual cupcakes!

Step 4: Create your chocolate decorations

Melt your candy melts and pour into your chocolate moulds. For a real Easter feel, we focused on these cute Easter Egg shapes, and created some cute bunnies and carrots too. Pop the moulds in the fridge for at least 30mins to set, or into the freezer for ten to fifteen minutes.

Step 5: Paint your chocolate eggs!

This is the fun part where you get to be really creative! Using edible paints (we LOVE the range from our friends at Colour Mill) and food safe paint brushes, paint spring themed designs onto your chocolate eggs. We love the little florals and polka dots Holly created.

Step 6: Decorate your Easter Cupcake Wreath

Add your chocolate toppers, sugar decorations and sprinkles to the buttercream, creating a colourful, eclectic design. You can even add in your favourite Easter sweets like mini eggs for an extra bit of fun. Press the decorations down slightly so the fully stick into the buttercream layer and stay put.

Step 7: Add a bow

And for the final finishing touch, grab one of our beautiful food safe ribbons from Simply Making and tie a bow - attach it to the top of the circle for that perfect wreath design.
