What you'll need to make your Easter cupcakes...

Step-by-Step Tutorial

Step One: Pre-make or buy your cupcakes, ready to decorate!

The FunCakes Vanilla Cupcake mix is an easy and tasty option! Just add eggs and butter to the mix to whip up delicious cupcakes in no time! Or, if you prefer to make your own, we have an amazing cupcake recipe from Sarah from @bake.works that is suitable for beginners and sure to impress!

Step Two: Create your carrot shapes

Roll your orange sugarpaste into small carrot shapes, making sure they'll fit perfectly across the top of your cupcake. Create detail to make them look more realistic by pressing the blade end of your Blade and Shell tool into your sugarpaste to make lines.

Step Three: Create your carrot leaves

Use your calyx cutter to cut out a piece of pastel green sugarpaste. Press the ball tool into the top of your carrot to create an indent. Then use your ball tool to press the calyx shape into the indent, pushing up to form the leaves.

Repeat until you have the number of carrots you need!

Step Four: Roll out the paste for your bunny ears

Then, to create bunny ears for your Easter cupcakes, roll two small pieces of ivory sugarpaste to equal sizes. Make sure they are both slightly wider at one end than the other.

Step Five: Add detail to your bunny ears

Press your cone modelling tool into each piece to widen them and create a smaller indent in the middle, for the bunny ear shape! Watch Vicki's video to see how she does this.

Step Six: Add pink sugarpaste to the ears

Take two small pieces of baby pink sugarpaste, slightly smaller than the ivory, and repeat. Use your cone tool to push them into the centre of the ivory pieces!

Step Seven: Pipe your frosting

Pipe your frosting (in whatever colour you choose, Vicki went for a pink and pale blue swirl!) onto your cupcakes and attach your sugarpaste toppers.

Step Eight: Finishing touches

Finish your decorating with a dash of colourful sprinkles, for some extra colour and texture!

Step Nine: Box them up!

And finally, pop your adorable Easter cupcakes into this sweet wicker effect cupcake basket box. The perfect way to display these cuties, especially if they're a gift!

Pro Tips:

  • If your sugarpaste is a little firm, pop it in the microwave for ten seconds to soften before kneading.
  • Always make a little bit more buttercream than you think you need - running out before you finish piping your cupcakes is never fun!
  • New to making cake models? Get your modelling tools collection off to a good start with this set from Wilton.
