What you need:

Instructions:

Before you begin, we recommend putting together your cupcake box, so it's ready and waiting for your cupcakes as soon as they're done!

  1. Prepare your buttercream or frosting.
  2. Add a couple of drops of colouring, in whichever shade you fancy! Judit used Colour Mill's Peach (to match the cakesicles she made here!). An oil based colour works well with buttercream. Stir well and add more colour until you reach your desired shade. Less is more to start with!
  3. Snip the end off your piping bag and slip the 1M piping nozzle inside, ensuring the end is fully exposed but it is still held in place.
  4. Scoop your coloured buttercream into your piping bag and squeeze to push down towards the nozzle.
  5. Now it's time to pipe a simple swirl! Take your premade cupcake and begin piping from the middle. The 1M tip is fairly wide, allowing you to cover the top quickly! Work anti-clockwise (or whatever is most comfortable for you) and create your swirl in one flowing movement. You might need to practice a few times to get the hang of it, but once you do you'll be a piping pro!
  6. You can either pipe on your cupcakes on your work surface, or you can pop them into the box and pipe in there. That just eliminates any risk of spoiling your perfect swirl when getting them packed up!
  7. Once you're happy with your piping, it's time to add the finishing touches! Add sprinkles, lustre dust or sugar decorations to create the look you want.

And you're done! A perfectly decorated batch of cupcakes. We hope you found this how to guide helpful! Once you get the hang of how to pipe a simple swirl, you can start getting even more creative with your piping.
