Tutorial - Cake Filled Chocolate Geo Hearts

Make sure you have the cake you're going to be using baked and cooled before you begin! You'll only need to bake a couple of cupcakes to make six geo hearts. Alternatively, this is a great opportunity to use an off-cut from a larger cake that would otherwise go to waste!
Step 1: Melt your deco melts! You can do this in a number of ways, from a traditional bain-marie, to your microwave. Our favourite option is a bit of a baking secret weapon - the PME Electric Melting Pot. This nifty gadget is such a quick, easy and effective way of melting your chocolate or candy melts.
Step 2: Pour into your mould and set in fridge. Once melted, pour your chocolate into your geo heart mould, ensuring you get an even coverage all around the inside of the cavity. Pop in the fridge for about twenty minutes to set.

Step 3: Break up your cupcakes. While your chocolate is setting, grab your cake/cupcakes and break it up until you've achieved a nice crumbly texture.
Step 4: Mix crumbled cupcake with frosting. Take a heaped spoonful of your frosting and add it to the cake. Mix it thoroughly until it has stuck together and formed a moldable consistency.
Step 5: Add cake mix to mould. Remove your mould from the fridge and add your cake mix to the cavities. Carefully push it in so it fills the shape and isn't sticking out over the top.
Step 6: Cover the cake with more melted deco melts. Next, take more of your melted deco melts and fully cover the sponge, forming the back of the chocolate heart.

Step 7: Put mould in fridge to set. Pop them back into the fridge for a further 30 to 60 minutes to fully set! You can even put them in the freezer for 15mins to speed this up if you'd like.
Step 8: Drizzle with Chocolate Drip. Now's it's time to get decorating! Remove your chocolate geo hearts from the mould and drizzle one corner with the fantastic Choco Drip from Colour Mill! There are so many colours to choose from in that range, it's a great opportunity to get creative.
Step 9: Add a dash of sprinkles. Before your chocolate drip sets, sprinkle your chosen sprinkles on so they stick and form the perfect finishing touch.

Step 10: Spritz with edible glitter and box up! And finally, evenly spritz your chocolate geo hearts with an edible glitter (we used the Powder Puff Glitter Dust from Sugarflair) et voila, you're done! Pop them in your treat box, on a bed of pretty shredded paper, and you've got the perfect Valentine's Day gift.
And we're done!

These cake filled Chocolate Geo Hearts are the perfect sweet treat for a Valentine's Day hang out! Whether you're making a gift for a partner or for friends, these are sure to be a big hit. And with so many colour options, you could make a few different styles for a Galentine's Day treat table!

FAQs
How should I store cake filled chocolate hearts?
If you've made your chocolate geo hearts in advance, be sure to store them in a cool, dry place. Ensure they are kept away from direct sunlight and, importantly, away from strong odors. Your chocolate can actually absorb strong smells, so you obviously want to avoid this!
Why has my chocolate or candy cracked?
If your chocolate or candy has cracked and cake is falling out, if may be that you haven't made your initial layer in the mould thick enough. Make sure to pour enough melted deco-melts in to completely cover the bottom and sides in a decent later. Take your time to move the mould around until it is fully coated.
How do I melt chocolate without a PME Melting Pot?
