Decorating Donuts - a Quick and Easy How to Guide!

Who doesn't love a donut?! A firm favourite for birthday parties, work events and - let's face it - even just for a sweet treat at home, donuts are one thing every baker wants to perfect! While a simple glaze is a classic, nothing is more fun than putting your own spin on things. Our easy guide to decorating donuts comes to you in collaboration with the lovely Jessica from @4cake_sake.
Anyone else obsessed with watching people making their creations? We've uploaded a short video over on our YouTube channel showing Jessica decorating these pretty blue and pink donuts herself. Once you've watched that, we've created an easy step by step guide for you to follow below!
What you will need
- A pre-made batch of donuts
- Icing of your choice
- Edible Icing Colouring
- A bowl for mixing your icing
- Your choice of sprinkles
Instructions:
- Whip up a bowl of your icing of choice - make sure you're using a bowl wide enough to dip the top of your biggest donut in!
- Add your edible icing colouring - here, Jessica is using the Color Right Concentrated Food Colouring from Wilton. These colours are so concentrated that you only require a couple of drops to reach your desired shade. Amazing value for money! We love a combination of Pink and Blue - this mix gives a beautiful marbled effect!
- Mix together until you're happy with the colour.
- Dip your pre-made donuts into your icing mix, being careful to get an even distribution across the whole top surface.
- When you're decorating donuts it's all about the finishing touches! Grab your favourite topping and sprinkle across the icing. Jessica's choice of the Cotton Candy blend from Happy Sprinkles is perfection!
